Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their side will ring the changes this summer after what’s been a fairly awful campaign but there is a sense of optimism amongst the fans with the latest news.
The Sun says under pressure Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made Leicester City’s PFA Player of the Year favourite Riyad Mahrez his prime summer target, with the long-serving manager accepting wholesale changes are required.
Mahrez has excelled in the Premier League this season and has proven to be one of the best bargain buys in English football, following his arrival from French second-tier outfir Le Harve for a fee of just £400k and he’s now rated at around £25m.
Arsenal won’t find it easy to lure the Algerian to north London though as huge clubs are eyeing his signature, including Barcelona, but the Gunners will raise funds by allowing Theo Walcott to leave the Emirates.
Walcott has spent a decade at Arsenal but has struggled to become an established member of the starting eleven and his form has dipped drastically this year, leading our landlord to dub the player expendable.
Arsenal fans, would axing Walcott and bringing in Mahrez be a good move? Let us know in the comments below!
