The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to get seriously concerned that Alexis Sanchez could depart sooner, rather than later…
The Chilean attacker has yet to sign a new contract at Arsenal, and whilst talks are reportedly ongoing – there appears to be no sign of an impending conclusion.
It hasn’t affected his form on the pitch, though, with Sanchez already notching up 12 Premier League goals this season; but this has done very little to ease the fears of the Gunners in the Transfer Tavern.
Always one to improve the mood of his punters, though, our landlord has taken it upon himself to scour the morning papers for some good news for the Arsenal fans – and it would appear as though he has found something quite significant.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are preparing a contingency plan in case Alexis Sanchez does depart the club – and they have resultantly placed Borussia Dortmund sensation Marco Reus at the top of their transfer list.
The dynamic German winger is, undoubtedly, one of Europe’s best – and our landlord has suggested that if anything, he would be an upgrade on Sanchez.
The news has certainly bolstered the mood of the Arsenal faithful, but a few concerns remain. Notably, whether Dortmund would be willing to sell, and also the German’s poor fitness record.
Our landlord is pretty confident that if Arsenal decide they want Reus, especially with any funds from a Sanchez sale, they would be more than able to afford him – and if any club can get him past his injury issues, Arsenal can.
