The transfer window may have closed at the start of this week, but no one in the Football Transfer Tavern has recovered from the drama just yet.
We may be taking down the Jim White tribute banners and putting our deadline day posters away, but Red Bull and coffee are in short supply as most of our punters turn to the caffeine to keep awake.
If our punters are struggling come the end of the window, that must be nothing compared to the managers in the Premier League and as one of our punters notes, they could probably do with a holiday.
This applies to no one more than Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who as we all know took quite a bit of stick during the transfer window and saw more players reject him than our landlord sees shots of sambuca sold on a buy one get one free basis on Friday nights!
Not only did the Frenchman fail in his summer long chase for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez but he also saw a host of other high profile names turn him down and opt for other clubs.
Given we have an international break this weekend, it seems the perfect time for a holiday and it seems that Arsene Wenger agrees with us.
Over a cheeky vodka and coke, our regulars make the observation that Wenger certainly has some left over cash to spend after the summer, when he started off with a £70 million kitty and only managed to make a last gasp purchase for Mesut Ozil – spending just under £43 million.
Clearly the manager has more than enough spare change for a weekend on the Costa Del Sol whilst he waits for his players to come back to training!
In all seriousness, what position do you think Arsene Wenger will strengthen in January with his surplus funds? Let us know your thoughts below.
