Arsenal can return to the Champions League if they sign this 31-year-old defender

Arsenal fans present here in the Football Transfer Tavern would surely love to see the Gunners splash the cash during the summer transfer window…

Long serving manager Arsene Wenger put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal to stay at the Emirates Stadium this past week and some supporters aren’t happy, meaning that the French boss will need to win them over with some impressive incoming deals this summer.

The Gunners will not be in the Champions League next season for the first time in several years and the fact that Wenger has been given a new deal on the back of that doesn’t sit right with certain supporters here in the Tavern.

One area of the pitch that looks certain to be strengthened is at the back and the Gunners could certainly look to add a central defender to their ranks for the new campaign.

One man who Arsenal could turn to in order to bolster their defensive recruits is Uruguayan performer Diego Godin, who would undoubtedly be a solid acquisition for the Gunners as they prepare to regain their place in the Champions League.

One stumbling block could be the player’s desire to remain in the Champions League next season and at his current club, Atletico Madrid, he would do just that. At 31-years-old however he might see this summer as the perfect chance to finally sample life in the Barclays Premier League.

One Arsenal fan is sat enjoying a well deserved morning pint after a grueling night shift and he thinks that Godin would be an ideal signing for the club, stating that his desire to win games of football would make him good for the Gunners.

Arsenal fans, would you welcome Godin? Let us know in the comments below!!!
