It seems that goalkeepers are back on the radar here at the Football Transfer Tavern and according to the Daily Express that is not set to change anytime soon. Arsenal are considering yet another keeper according to the paper and fans are scratching their heads as to why.
It seems everyday there is another link to a keeper for the North London club and today Sunderland stopper Simon Mignolet is their new target. The keeper has been decent for Sunderland this season and much like Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic – who has also been linked to the club – it seems unlikely they would stay at their current clubs should they succumb to the drop.
Arsenal are also thought to be considering a move for Real Madrid stopper Iker Casillas and either way, things are looking increasingly bad for their former number one Wojciech Szczesny. The Sunderland keeper is only valued at £5.5 million and thus would cost considerably less than someone like Casillas.
Wenger is looking for a host of players this summer and Ashley Williams, Sebastien Corchia and Stevan Jovetic are just some of the top targets Wenger is looking to spend the transfer kitty he will be handed on. Much will depend on if Arsenal can make it into the top four this season as already Jovetic has claimed he will not move if a top four place is not achieved.
Is Mignolet more likely to join the Gunners than Casillas, Valdes or Begovic? Rate this rumour below.
