There’s a few surprised looks around the snooker table as punters gather round an article from The Express.
The article is claiming that Barcelona right back Daniel Alves could be sold at the end of the season, putting a host of Premier League suitors on red alert.
The paper suggests that Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea would all reportedly be interested in the Brazilian defender, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Camp Nou.
Alves, 30, would expect a substantial wage package at any new Premier League club, something Chelsea and City would be able to offer the former Sevilla man.
It really does come as a shock to punters that Barca would let Alves go but it is probably the last chance they will get to cash-in on his services before his contract expires next summer.
Meanwhile, the same reports indicate that Barca are also ready to let former Arsenal man Alex Song leave.
The Cameroon international has only featured briefly for Gerardo Martino’s side this term and it is understood he would favour a return to England at the end of the season. Both Manchester United and former club are expected to be interested.
We’re not sure if Alves would really opt for life in England but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
