Arsenal: Christopher Nkunku holding out on move amid Gunners interest - Arsenal

Unai Emery might have a rather challenging juggling act on his hands this summer as he looks to rebuild his Arsenal squad after 12 months at the helm.

The Spaniard has the tough task of improving his squad in a number of crucial areas of the pitch with a restricted transfer budget, previously reported by the Daily Mail to stand at just £45m.

One of his alleged transfer targets (per the Sun at the time) in the winter was thought to be Christopher Nkunku, however, they opted for Denis Suarez instead, who departed after an ill-fated loan switch.

Whether Emery looks to go back in for the 21-year-old this summer remains to be seen; however, he may have been given a chance to snatch his signature.

According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Nkunku is delaying a £13m move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig as he holds out to see if the interest from Arsenal is concrete.

According to his playing positions (WhoScored), Nkunku can play in a variety of different areas ranging from right-back to right-wing, the centre of midfield or as a centre-forward, meaning Emery could have a brilliant utility man for just a low transfer fee.

His traits are also something worth mentioning as well, as they are all things Arsenal could benefit from following the departure of Aaron Ramsey. He is listed as a player whose passing ability and through balls are very strong, whilst he is also strong in creating chances with key balls, his finishing ability and he can also hold onto the ball, meaning he could give them the added bite that they could be missing in the upcoming campaign due to Ramsey’s exit, something Arsene Wenger spoke about back in February.

Nkunku made 13 starts and nine substitute appearances for PSG and Thomas Tuchel last season in Ligue 1 and appeared to make a decent impact in the side both defensively and offensively. Averaging one tackle per match, the 21-year-old also provided the team with one shot per game and 0.8 key passes.

His versatility would come in handy on the right for Emery as well, with Alex Iwobi not quite convincing everyone (he spoke of the criticism to Goal) and Wilfried Zaha’s valuation appears to put Arsenal in a position whereby they have little chance of landing him this summer (Daily Star).
