Deal Close: Arsenal close to agreeing deal for Barcelona target

YarmolenkoArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern today were excited by reports that suggest the Gunners are set to beat the Spanish might of Barcelona to the signature of an attacking star.

Metro claim Arsenal have launched an ‘important offer’ to Ukrainian midfielder Andriy Yarmolenko and that the player is close to agreeing a switch to North London.

Barcelona have also been linked to the player but Spanish publication Fichajes claim the 25-year-old’s most likely destination is to the Premier League, where Wenger is ready to welcome him with open arms.

Punters at the bar are quick to point-out the player must be talented if Barcelona are chasing him, with it said they’re considering him as a replacement for Pedro Rodriguez; who joined Chelsea over the summer.

However with the player being a natural winger, and unlikely to oust Mesut Ozil in the middle, the same fans are scratching their head as to why Yarmolenko is being pursued ahead of a world-class striker.
