Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t best pleased with how the past few weeks have gone but they’re gathered around the pool table to discuss one exciting transfer rumour floating around.
Esteemed German newspaper Bild have stated the Gunners are looking set to re-sign a former product of their academy, with talks underway to bring Havard Nordtveit back to North London from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Since leaving Arsenal in 2011, the Norwegian international has shone in the Bundesliga and has attracted a wealth of interest with his performances. Whilst the German club want him to pen a new deal, Nordtveit’s future remains up in the air.
As well as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested but the Gunners are in pole position to sign the 25-year-old due to their links with the player and Arsenal have already opened negotiations with the midfielder.
Available on a free transfer this summer, and currently free to sign a pre-contractual agreement with club’s outside of Germany, Nordtveit could be a quality acquisition- particularly with veteran trio Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky set to leave the Emirates this summer.
Our landlord feels that Nordtveit would be a decent signing, as the defensive midfielder could provide competition to the excelling Francis Coquelin.
Arsenal fans, should Nordtveit be brought back to North London this summer? Let us know in the comments!
