Arsenal fans around the Football Transfer Tavern bar are looking relatively pleased with the latest news from Metro who claim that the club have finally managed to land one of their top targets this summer.
The club are of course in the race for Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney who they want to pair up top with Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain who is on his way to the Emirates Stadium sometime soon – we are told – and Arsene Wenger has at least got the ball rolling in some form or other with the capture of French starlet Yaya Sanogo from Ligue 2 outfit Auxerre.
The long serving Gunners manager has netted Sanogo who is a 20-year-old French youth international and someone Wenger has been tracking for a long time and is a big fan of.
The manager noted to Arsenal’s official website that: “Sanogo is a good young signing for us. He has shown that he has potential with his recent performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side.
“We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.”
The manager is also trying to bring a keeper into the club this summer and is considering making a move for QPR’s Julio Cesar who of course impressed triumphantly at the recent Confederations Cup in Brazil this summer.
Sanogo represents Arsenal’s third raid on Auxerre in a number of years after capturing Abou Diaby and Bacary Sagna from the French club in past times.
Arsenal fans. Do you believe Yaya Sanogo will be the real deal in a few years time? Are you frustrated there are still no big names through the door as yet? Let us know your thoughts below.
