Arsenal fans have all their fingers and toes crossed in the Transfer Tavern as they pray this deal goes over the line and it’s certainly looking promising.
The latest in Arsenal’s quest to lure Granit Xhaka to north London comes from ESPN, who state the Gunners are confident of signing the Borussia Monchengladbach for below his asking price.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Xhaka has been very public and the Gunners seem to have moved ahead of rival clubs, like Liverpool, in the quest to sign the Swiss international. However, fans are understandably wary of getting ahead of themselves.
Arsene Wenger’s side, meanwhile, seem confident they can reduce the price required to sign Xhaka as it’s stated they believe they can capture their man for less than his £34m asking price.
Regardless of the fee, Xhaka is likely to become the third most expensive Arsenal signing, behind Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, and will become the fourth high-profile capture in the same number of years, following the aforementioned duo and Petr Cech last summer.
Arsenal need to bolster their midfield ranks vastly this summer as they’re set to lose Mathieu Flamnini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky, whilst Santi Cazorla, 31, is entering the final year of his contract.
Gooners, how much do you think you’ll have to pay for Xhaka? Let us know in the comments below!
