Unai Emery has done a solid job at Arsenal this season. Many at the Emirates Stadium may not have expected the club to still be competing for the Europa League and a place in next season’s Champions League at this stage of the Spaniard’s first campaign in charge.
However, the manager is going to have to make additions to his squad in the summer if they are to continue to improve and become even more of a challenger in the Premier League and it appears they could have the perfect player on their radar to help them.
What’s the News?
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are considering a move for Sampdoria’s Dennis Praet.
It is claimed that the Gunners are trying to work out how much they should offer the Serie A outfit for the Belgian.
However, the Italian side have allegedly put a minimum €20million (£17.3m) fee on his head to begin negotiations.
Praet could be an excellent addition for Arsenal and one that could thrive in Emery’s side moving forward. With Aaron Ramsey set to depart the Emirates Stadium for Juventus, the Belgian midfielder could be the ideal man to replace him.
The 24-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder who is able to play in a number of different roles centrally, whether that be deep or further forward and would provide the Gunners with some extremely valuable options.
Having already played with Lucas Torreira at Sampdoria, there would be no reason for the duo to be able to reunite and get things going quickly as the pair would have already built a solid understanding in Serie A before the Uruguayan’s move in the summer.
Praet is very confident on the ball, as he can dribble past his opponents with ease, whilst he also has the ability to pick out a pass anywhere on the pitch and put his team-mates in great goalscoring opportunities. Defensively, the Belgian is not shy of putting in tackles and is rather successful when doing so as he can break up the play before it reaches his team’s defenders.
At just 24-years-old, Praet certainly has the ability to improve and develop further and Emery could be the man to take him to the next level at Arsenal.
