Arsenal considering deal for £11.9m-rated defender

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are slowly calming down after the signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette, but are starting to realise more needs to be done ahead of the new season.

The resident Gooners are desperate to see the mooted overhaul properly get underway this summer, and with one big name in the door they are waiting for the fringe players to be shipped out.

One of those looking set to leave is former Southampton man Calum Chambers, who arrived from the south coast in 2014, having failed to secure a place in Arsene Wenger’s plans over the last few years.

The England U21 international spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough and despite their relegation enjoyed a successful campaign, with Boro keeping a tight defence compared to those around them.

With no clear future for him at The Emirates, The Telegraph are reporting that the Gunners are open to offers for the £11.9m-rated defender, with Crystal Palace the front-runners.

With new manager Frank de Boer looking to bolster his ranks ahead of his maiden season the Eagles have supposedly offered £16m for the 22-year-old, the same fee the north Londoners paid Saints three years ago.

Arsenal fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Chambers time is up or should he be given another chance? Let us know below…
