The Daily Star have made what the Football Transfer Tavern collectively feels is a sensational claim as they seem to think that Arsenal are set to make an approach for Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas.
The Spanish keeper has long been linked with a move away from the club given his relationship with Jose Mourinho and it certainly seems that in the summer one of them will be leaving the capital. Casillas has seen himself relegated to the bench after his injury and given the superb form of Diego Lopez and the fact that he is a Mourinho man, the club captain does not look like playing again this season.
Arsenal have been linked with not only Iker Casillas but also Michel Vorm, Pepe Reina and Victor Valdes and now seem to be considering a move for 31-year-old Casillas as well. Should Jose Mourinho leave the club, a move for the legend would be virtually impossible with the Spanish international remaining at the club until he earned his place back under a new boss. Not only is the keeper worried about his place at Real Madrid, but he is also concerned that his place in the national team may be under threat after Victor Valdes’ recent brilliant performance against France.
Wenger could well be in with a chance to swoop for the player if Mourinho stays as first team football is a must for the man considered a saint for Los Blancos.
