Arsenal could face transfer exit amid contract standoff with no agreement reached

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will still be reacting to the news that Arsene Wenger has decided to call it a day at the end of the season.

The Frenchman has endured some tough times at the Emirates Stadium in the past few years from his own supporters, however, he arguably brought the club some of their best times in the 22 years he was in charge.

The locals in the Tavern could suffer another departure in the summer with the possibility of a highly-rated youngster to follow Wenger out of north London. According to the Mirror, Arthur Okonkwo could be set to leave as he is yet to sign a deal with Arsenal.

The 16-year-old has a bright future ahead of him, having already represented England at the Under-17 level, and has already attracted interest from Celtic and Red Bull Leipzig. The goalkeeper is understood to want to stay with the Gunners, however, with a purge on contracts currently happening, they could lose him in the summer despite offering him a professional contract when he turns 17.

Landlord’s Verdict

Arsenal locals in the Tavern will want the club to do all they can to keep Okonkwo at the Emirates as he is highly-rated and is thought to be involved within the first-team set up in the future, especially with the problems the punters have seen at the number one spot.
