Man Utd attacker Anthony Martial has had a tough year or two, but the fans in the Transfer Tavern are still desperate to see him succeed at Old Trafford…
The supporters in the pub will be feeling slightly anxious today, then, with the Daily Mail reporting that Arsenal could make a move for the Frenchman this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger is a fan of Martial, and could look to move for him this summer if the Gunners are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.
Arsenal, of course, desperately need a bit of offensive rebuilding this summer, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud all facing uncertain futures at the Emirates. What’s more, the side’s poor Premier League form last season – which culminated in a fifth-placed finish – has facilitated a demand for change at the club, with the mediocrity of the last few years no longer acceptable amongst the Arsenal fans in the pub.
Though Martial – who is rated at £25.5 million by Transfer Markt – has had a poor year, there is no doubting that the Frenchman has bags of potential. Once named Europe’s ‘Golden Boy’, his lack of consistent game time has caused his development to stall, but there is no better manager to help him reach his potential than Arsene Wenger.
Our landlord thinks that whilst Man Utd are unlikely to accept a move, it would be a great piece of business for Arsenal.
