The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t sure that their side has enough to compete for a top-four finish this season. The Gunners fell out of the top four of the Premier League last season for the first time in recent memory, and it hasn’t been a particularly great campaign so far as they look to make their return.
They’re in and amongst it at the top of the table, and they’re currently in fifth place, but it’s clear that Arsene Wenger’s men need to improve if they want to move past the likes of Liverpool come May.
Reports from Marca, then, are sure to please our resident Gunners. According to Marca, Arsenal could make a move for Barcelona B attacker Jose Arnaiz, who has been in stellar form for Barcelona’s second string team this season. Significantly, he is said to have a €20 million (£17.7 million) release clause in his contract, making him a decent value signing in the current market.
He has bagged 6 goals so far this term, and has been a regular with his current side. He has also begun to train and feature alongside the Barcelona first team, suggesting that he’s clearly progressing at a rapid rate.
Still unproven at the highest level, Arsene Wenger doesn’t seem to be put off by his relative lack of experience, and that’s no real surprise. He’s proven his quality in the Spanish second tier, and whilst it would be a step up at Arsenal, the attacker is clearly talented.
With Arsenal lacking attacking depth, a move would make a lot of sense, particularly at that price.
Arsene Wenger has often been very good at signing young players, and at 22-years-old, Arnaiz is the perfect candidate.
Arsenal have lacked goals this season, and he’s already proven that he has a natural eye for finding the net.
