Another blow for Arsenal as lethal forward nears Serie A switch

Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern has spotted some more news today that could upset the resident Arsenal fans even further, after a miserable summer in the transfer market.

The Gunners faithful had been hopeful of securing a world class striker this summer but with two days left until the season curtain-raiser, the club are still scouring the market for a suitable player.

Our landlord has seen a piece on the ESPN website that confirms Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi is the subject of a big money bid from Serie A rivals Napoli.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the Argentinean forward and the club has been heavily linked with the player this summer.

Napoli are blessed with ample cash to strengthen their squad further after selling Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus earlier in the summer, with the 23-year-old now lined-up as his replacement for next season.

One Arsenal fan is sat in the Tavern’s smoking area and he thinks that Icardi would be a quality player in the Premier League, stating that he is starting to fear the worst for the Gunners ahead of the big kick-off.

Arsenal fans, would you welcome Icardi at your club? How gutting is it to miss out on such a promising player? Let us know in the comments below!!!
