Arsenal fans are looking hugely disappointed here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mail claim that the move for Gonzalo Higuain is dead in the water after the forward agreed to sign for Napoli in a £32 million deal.
The Real Madrid forward had been linked to the Gunners who made a bid in the region of £22 million for the Argentine international.
Arsenal being Arsenal promptly saw that bid rejected and it seemed that Napoli would be the ones to land the forward, making it a trio of Real Madrid players who opted to join Rafael Benitez this summer following Jose Callejon and Raul Albiol to the Stadio San Paolo.
It seems that now a deal has been finalised for the forward, making Higuain another player that Arsenal have targeted and missed out on.
The £32 million deal has been pushed through after Napoli took the initiative and were willing to make the bid Florentino Perez demanded and cough up the cash that Arsenal were as per usual quibbling over.
Now it seems that the race for Luis Suarez has become even more vital for the Gunners given that now not only has Pipita chosen to join Italian side Napoli but also Stevan Jovetic has made the switch to Manchester City.
As we all know, Arsenal have promised to sign big names before and failed and fans here in the tavern are becoming downcast as this looks like happening again.
Will Arsenal heal their Higuain disappointment by landing Liverpool’s Luis Suarez this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
