Metro carry reports that have Arsenal fans looking up from their pie and mash here in the Football Transfer Tavern, after they claim that the club are no longer keen on Michu.
The Swansea City striker was the man of the moment last term and it seemed that a move to one of the top four clubs could be on the cards.
Goals and more goals were the standard feature in a Michu appearance for Swansea, yet this season his star has dimmed somewhat.
Michu has succumbed to injury this season and that has led to the interest from Arsene Wenger cooling. That of course means that Wenger will have to look elsewhere if he wants to add to his firepower.
Swansea meanwhile are keen on making a move for Liverpool outcast Iago Aspas, who has failed to light up the Premier League since making his move to England.
Michael Laudrup spoke about the potential transfer plans for the club, alluding to the injury to Michu, and noted: “What has happened in the last couple of weeks has changed things.
“We will probably do something now in January and try to add something that we don’t have in certain positions. The numbers are a bit down and that is risky for the last four months of the season.”
Was Michu a good enough signing for Arsenal anyway? Let us know your thoughts below.
