The Arsenal supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern have been left crying into their empty pint pots this week following the capitulation of their title bid.
Their supporters think that the club are ruing not strengthening the squad during the January transfer window and many of them feel that it is not coming back to bite the club on the backside.
In terms of transfers, the landlord has spotted some promising news in today’s Daily Star that claims the Gunners are to enter the race to secure the services of German star Ilkay Gundogan, although they do face competition from Manchester City.
The 25-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder is valued at around £25 million and looks set to leave the German club in the summer as they look to sell him before his contract expires in 2017.
One Arsenal fan is getting a round of shots in and he thinks that the club should do all they can to secure Gundogan ahead of their rivals, stating that it would be a real statement of intent ahead of next season, if they can pull off the deal.
Arsenal fans… Would you welcome Gundogan? Where would he fit into the Arsenal midfield?
