Arsenal enter race for former Spurs’ defender

Steven Caulker Tottenham did a lot of bad business last summer and their fans are currently discussing it at length in the Football Transfer Tavern.

One of their bad decisions was to let Steven Caulker leave to join Cardiff City, and now it looks like that decision could come back to haunt them, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believed to be considering launching a raid on the relegated Welsh club.

According to The Metro, the North London club have their eyes on former Tottenham defender Caulker after a stellar season in Wales.

He only left Spurs for Cardiff last summer for a fee in the region of £8 million but is expected to move back to the Premier League after the Bluebird’s relegation.

Tottenham themselves are also set to be interested in Caulker returning, along with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who managed the defender at Swansea.

Wenger had been trying to lure Ashley Williams to the club with the Swansea captain having just one year remaining on his current contract.

But the Swans are willing to make Williams their highest paid player in history, leading Wenger to look in the direction of Caulker instead.

Arsenal fans, how much would you be willing to pay for Caulker or are there better options out there? Let us know your thoughts below.
