Arsenal eye up move for midfield maestro to help mount serious title challenge

Wenger outIt seems the mood here in the Football Transfer Tavern amongst Arsenal fans has been buoyed significantly by the news being reported on The Guardian, that Arsene Wenger is closing in on a swoop for AS Monaco and Portuguese holding midfielder Joao Moutinho.

Since the acquisition of Petr Cech it has been an all too familiar transfer window for Gunners fans of subdued activity thus far.

A fresh pair of legs in defensive midfield of all places would be seen as a welcome arrival. At around €20 million, the 28-year old, who helped inflict defeat on Wenger’s side with Monaco, would be seen as good value for money.

One of the members of staff behind the bar here at the Transfer Tavern, who is a lifelong Arsenal fan made his thoughts known to the regulars: “I would much rather one, maybe two quality signings from Arsene Wenger this window – with the help of someone like Moutinho I think we will be right up there again”.

After the Portuguese player has been tracked for a number of years now by top four clubs, it would definitely make the fans happy if he is plying his trade at the Emirates next season.

What do you think Gunners fans? Would this signing make you happy? Let us know if he’s the man you want in the comments below!
