Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are licking their lips in anticipation of an exciting swoop in the transfer market, after reports stated the Gunners interest in one big name has increased.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo state Arsenal’s interest in German international Mario Gotze has grown, with Bayern Munich preparing to offload the former Borussia Dortmund ace this summer.
It’s been two-years of mixed fortune for Gotze, as he scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final but has struggled to find his feet in Bavaria, often finding himself out of Pep Guardiola’s plans last season.
The German ace had a chance to redeem himself with Carlo Ancelotti taking charge for next season but Bayern want to sell as the 24-year-old has hit a run of poor form for club and country.
Gotze has just one-year remaining on his deal with the German giants, which means Arsenal could land his services for a smaller fee than many would expect, and our landlord believes he would thrive in the Gunners set-up; playing alongside compatriot Mesut Ozil and Chilean icon Alexis Sanchez.
Would Gotze be the missing link in Arsenal’s attack? Let us know in the comments below!
