Arsenal face competition in chase for defender

Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern don’t know what to make of their side’s search for defensive reinforcement; this saga has more twists and turns than last year’s Premier League season!

Arsenal look no closer to bringing in a central defender as the end of the British transfer window edges ever closer.

With both Gabriel and Per Mertesacker out for the foreseeable future, our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks that it is absolutely imperative that Arsenal bring in defensive reinforcements; but with moves for players seemingly being rejected by the day – things are not looking good for the Arsenal faithful here in the Tavern.

Whilst moves for Jose Fonte, Johnny Evans and Marcel Tisserand have been reported in the press, Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi seemingly has always been Arsenal’s first choice defender.

Now, in an exclusive report provided by Goal.com – Mustafi’s future has been discussed by the defender’s father.

He has revealed that there are “two or more” clubs currently in discussions with a move for the Arsenal target, whilst adding that more will be revealed soon.

Our landlord thinks it’s safe to assume that Arsenal are one of the clubs in question, especially considering reports that Arsene Wenger is very confident that a deal will go ahead – but the suggestion that Arsenal are seemingly facing competition for the defender’s signature does pose quite the risk to the Arsenal faithful.

With the British transfer window set to close in less than two weeks, time is running out for Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal fans – what do you reckon? The Arsenal faithful here in the Tavern are starting to get very concerned – are you feeling the same way?
