Barely a week has gone by since we were discussing the future of Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta and now Sky Sports claim that Arsenal will face a tough battle to land the Venezuelan international.
The tough tackling defender is out of contract in the summer and is available on a free transfer. Cue a host of clubs looking at the player who at one time claimed a move to the Premier League would be a dream for him.
The Gunners are ready to have a massive shake up in the summer and feel the player is part of this re-jig. Now however it has been claimed that a host of sides from Serie A are also in the hunt for the player who could well have his head turned by the prospect of a move to Italy.
Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all more than a little bit interested in the 27-year-old who has failed to agree an extension to his current deal at San Mames and despite making over 250 appearances for the Basque side, is set to depart La Liga once the season ends.
The lure of Champions League football is a huge prospect for Amorebieta and should Arsenal miss out on a top four spot, this could see them ousted from the race to land his services.
Will Amorebieta become a Gunner in the summer or does his future lay in Italy? Rate this rumour below.
