It’s been a very tough season for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern…
The Gunners have struggled domestically, with a couple of losses coming already this term, though the signs are there that they are improving.
A big Europa League victory over FC Köln has been seen by some in the Transfer Tavern as a turning point, whilst they also managed to hold Chelsea to a draw at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
However, just as things were looking up for the club, they have – once again – taken a turn for the worst.
During the game against Chelsea, Danny Welbeck was forced off the pitch with an injury, and now the Telegraph have revealed what the prognosis could be for the forward. They are suggesting that it could be a groin tear, which could lead to a relatively long-term layoff.
Now awaiting the results of a scan, it seems as though the Gunners will be holding their breath, but at present, it isn’t looking good.
Just as Arsenal were picking up a head of steam, they have suffered a setback, and that’s a crushing blow for the Gunners. They’ve looked very good indeed over the last week or so, and so this injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Welbeck’s form had actually been improving too, hence why he was chosen to feature against Chelsea, and so that makes it doubly disappointing for the club.
Wenger will find it tough to replace him, but in the meantime, he’ll be waiting with baited breath hoping for the best.
Welbeck looked good against Chelsea, and his injury certainly slowed the Gunners down for a moment at least.
Fortunately, Alexis Sanchez is now back in the picture, and so Wenger does have a ready-made replacement available.
However, whichever way you look at it, it’s frustrating, to say the least.
