Arsenal’s squad is filled with bags of talent, and unfortunately, that means that many players often get left behind and left out in favour of more flashy individuals.
That’s certainly been the case for Danny Welbeck during his time at the Emirates. Since moving from Man Utd, he’s rarely been a regular starter at the club, though when he’s come in he’s always done a job. Granted, he’s never going to be a player that can score 30 goals a season or a player that is able to dribble past 5 players, but he always works hard and makes an impact – and that’s the sort of player that every team needs.
He was given a rare chance to start for Arsenal on Thursday against Qarabag, and though he didn’t score, he captained the Gunners on the night and put in an industrious performance.
Welbeck has often been a maligned character at the Emirates, perhaps owing to his poor goalscoring record, but it’s fair to say that many fans came around to him on Thursday evening. Arsenal shared a post online celebrating the Englishman, and many Arsenal fans responded in kind.
It seems that fans want him to stick around, with calls for him to get a new contract being made. Take a look at what Arsenal fans have had to say below…
Proud moment for him, never complains & always gives he’s when given chance to play, not on score sheet today but involved in all three goals we scored, hopefully we can offer him to stay few more years #COYG

Welbeck has done so much for Arsenal, A true servant and deserves a new contract I remember his winner against Leicester two years ago, what a moment that was for the club.
