After back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal have since gone on a six-game winning run in the Premier League that has taken them to fourth in the table.
And at the heart of the Gunners’ upturn in form has been Alexandre Lacazette who has been absolutely lethal in attack in recent weeks.
The Frenchman has scored four goals and has set up a further two in eight league appearances, and Transfer Tavern has since seen plenty of Arsenal supporters on Twitter claiming the in-form striker has been the club’s standout player thus far — something that is hard to argue against.
As well as the goal-scoring touch that has been seen from £58.5m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Lacazette in previous fixtures, the France international’s all-round game has been on another level.
When Lacazette joined Arsenal last summer, he arrived with the reputation of being a prolific No.9 and a deadly finisher. And while that is the case, the former Lyon man has shown under Unai Emery that he is so much more than just a mere poacher.
Lacazette has been linking up with team-mates extremely well with the partnership he is developing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang epitomising how good he is at bringing others into play.
With the addition of Aubameyang back in January and a slow start to the campaign, Lacazette’s role in the team and future at the club has looked uncertain at times.
However, the 27-year-old is slowly becoming indispensable to Emery and has truly been the standout individual in the team since his Man of the Match display against Cardiff City last month.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
