Arsenal: Fans berate Unai Emery over treatment of Mesut Ozil

Arsenal fans have been berating manager Unai Emery over his treatment of Mesut Ozil after the club’s official Twitter account posted his first ever goal for the club.

Ozil scored his first goal for Arsenal in the club’s 2-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League exactly six years ago today (via Twitter).

The former Germany international has seemingly been frozen out so far this season, playing just two out of the Gunners’ nine games in all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

Ozil was left out of Arsenal’s squad to face Manchester United yesterday, with Emery’s only explanation for his exclusion being: “He is not right. I decided that this is the XI and that’s it.” (Source: The Mirror)

Arsenal’s playmaker was named as the club’s fifth captain last week, with Granit Xhaka taking over the role of permanent captain (via Evening Standard).
