Tonight will see Arsenal return to Europa League action and after they overcame Vorskla 4-2 at The Emirates in their opener they’ll be desperate to make it two wins from two when they travel to Baku to face Qarabag tonight. With Petr Cech injured, Bernd Leno will be starting in the Premier League and the fans are keen to see third-choice Emiliano Martinez start later.
If Unai Emery does give Martinez a go in goal the 26-year-old Argentine then it could well spell the end for Petr Cech. The 26-year-old is easily capable of impressing and if he performs in the cups and the Europa League and Bernd Leno builds on his form in the Premier League then it could see Cech drop to being the club’s third choice behind both of his fellow goalkeepers.
That, of course, is very unlikely. It’s not out of the question though and just across North London Tottenham have seen a 26-year-old Argentine third-choice goalkeeper raise his stock in the form of Paulo Gazzaniga, who has impressed in the absence of both Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm. Martinez will be hoping to take inspiration from Gazzaniga and make a start tonight, with the fans keen to see what he can do against Qarabag later.

A month without cech means Leno has a chance now to show us all what he can do and hopefully see some of martinez too

Would love to see Emi Martinez given a chance in goal tomorrow, and hopefully see Eddie and ESR from the start #afc

Breaking @Arsenal News!
Cech is out for up to 4 weeks with a hamstring injury. This is a real blow for the team as his performances have been superb. I wish him all the best in his recovery. It’s now time for Leno and Martinez to step up and fight for that place. #COYG #AFC

I think that this might be it for him for him I’m afraid. Surely Martinez will get the nod Thursday
— The Same Old Arsenal Podcast (@SameOldAFC) October 2, 2018
If Cech is out for a few weeks, Martinez should play Thursday.

So Emi Martinez has Petr Cech’s Arsenal career in his hands.
Prove himself a good cup-keeper and it’s game over for Cech

The fans are keen to see Martinez thrown in tonight, especially seeing as Cech is out and Leno will be playing on Sunday against Fulham.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
