Plenty of Arsenal fans are disappointed with the sale of Stephy Mavididi

The transfer window may be closed for business in England but clubs across Europe are looking to add to their squads for the remainder of August, including in Italy where Juventus have just made a new addition to their ranks.

The Serie A transfer window closed at 8pm last night on the eve of the beginning of the new season in the Italian top-flight, and Juventus moved to secure the signature of Stephy Mavididi just before the deadline.

According to the highly-respected Times journalist Paul Joyce, Mavididi has joined Juventus on a four year deal, three years after the Old Lady began monitoring his progress.

The 20-year-old striker completed two loan spells in the EFL last season, first with Preston North End where he failed to find the back of the net in 10 Championship appearances, and then with Charlton where he notched 2 goals from 12 appearances.

Evidently, Mavididi is far from the finished article and has plenty of improving to do before he is anywhere close to reaching the standard of top-flight football, but plenty of the Arsenal supporters believe he has the potential to thrive in the future.

In response to the news concerning his departure, plenty of supporters expressed their disappointment to see him leave the Emirates Stadium, and some even made the outlandish claim that the Gunners will eventually buy him back in a deal which would be comparable to Man United’s re-signing of Paul Pogba.

It will be interesting to see how Mavididi develops in the coming years in Italian football, but it seems incredibly unlikely that he will ever command a fee in the region of the £89 million the Red Devils paid for the recent World Cup winner in 2016.

Here’s what the Arsenal fans have had to say in response to the Mavididi’s departure…
