Arsenal fans have turned on Matteo Guendouzi

Unai Emery has proven himself to be a decisive manager, with the Spaniard not afraid to make bold decisions for the better of the team. He picks who he thinks is best for the job, regardless of their reputation, and that’s one of the reasons why Mesut Ozil has struggled for minutes this season.
It’s also a reason why Matteo Guendouzi, despite only moving to the Emirates in the summer whilst still a teenager, has enjoyed so much time on the field this season.
The manager has looked past his age and his flaws and seen that he can offer something different to this team, and more often than not, that decision has been vindicated. The Frenchman has got a fantastic range of passing and he’s a hard-working midfielder, and he’s been fundamental to much of Arsenal’s success this term.
However, Guendouzi featured in Arsenal’s loss to Rennes on Thursday evening, and at least according to some fans of the Gunners, he did not impress. He only came on in the second half, but he evidently didn’t make a good impression.
Following the game at the Emirates, lots of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to slam Guendouzi for his performance, with his poor tracking back proving to be a particular point of contention amongst fans.
See what they’ve had to say below:
Guendouzi came to the club like a man with a point to prove, now he looks like a youngster who has lost his way, horrible passing, lazy tracking back and dwells on the ball too long

I’ve been a bigger fan of guendouzi than most since he arrived. Has all the talent in the world. But this is a real denilson moment. Fans don’t forget this stuff. Basic effort. Anyone can do it. https://t.co/0DOCiDF9OS

Tonight, lazy Özil tracked back to make tackles at left back, whilst workhorse Guendouzi just jogged about like we were 3-1 up.

So are we finally seeing how bad guendouzi is ?
people don’t wana Listen— (@jvhnnyv) March 8, 2019
So gonna miss Ramsey. The rest of the squad should take a good hard look at themselves and see if their professionalism is even on par with a guy who’s leaving. I like guendouzi but don’t talk about running and giving 150%. when ramsey can outran him for the 3rd goal. Disgraceful

I can't remember many times Arsenal have looked so haphazard a man down, even under Wenger. Subs were poor, no changes at half time from Emery was bizarre. Mustafi awful again, Guendouzi culpable for the third goal and looked lacklustre despite being fresher

Leno = decent
Sokratis = ticking time bomb
Guendouzi = Not PL level
Torreira = bang average since January— (@Kayy_Eh) March 8, 2019
My man Also, what the hell is Guendouzi doing here? https://t.co/NCOd29Bb01
