Club fan account AFTV tweeted quotes from the Brazilian (also via Reddit), saying “I want to try and be a legend”, to which many fans responded with their respect.

The 18-year-old joined the Gunners in the summer from Brazilian side Ituano, where he had scored 10 goals in 34 games after debuting in 2017, per the BBC.

Born in 2001, Martinelli has made a fantastic start to his Arsenal career given his age. So far in his four appearances, he has scored four goals – and two of those were brief Premier League matches.

He was able to bag a brace in the club’s EFL Cup match versus Nottingham Forest as well as against Standard Liege in their 4-0 win in the Europa League.

While he still has a long old way to go, these fans reacted the words from Martinelli, with some even claiming that he is well on his way to becoming a legend. Also, one supporter is praying that the youngster doesn’t end up following in former Arsenal player Yaya Sanogo’s footsteps, as the Frenchman made just 20 appearances for the Gunners, scoring one goal, after impressing with four in four games in the under-23 side.
