Arsenal fans on twitter believe Smith-Rowe has a huge future

The name on all Arsenal fans lips at the moment is Emile Smith-Rowe. The 17-year-old winger had a superb season for Arsenal’s youth sides last season and it’s thought that it won’t be long until the wonderkid has broken into the first-team at the club.

The young prodigy scored a goal that Lionel Messi would have been proud of yesterday in the club’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in Singapore. The Gunners found themselves 1-0 down when Angel Correa opened the scoring for a strong Atletico Madrid side, that didn’t faze Smith-Rowe, though, as he picked the ball up around 30-yards from goal, jinked inside an on-rushing defender and curled an effort past Antonio Adan into the top corner.

The goal had fans all over the world logging onto Twitter to see it for themselves and it’s likely that the 17-year-old will enjoy more than just five minutes of fame after his strike, as the versatile young midfielder is set to thrive under Unai Emery and become a more regular feature in the senior squad. It would be unrealistic to expect him to be starting against Manchester City in two weeks time, but don’t be shocked to see his name on the bench or even in the lineup in the Europa League and domestic cups.
