Arsenal fans on Twitter find themselves agreeing with Sherwood’s defence comments

Arsenal fans had the joy of watching their top four hopes melt away yesterday. The Gunners fell to a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton and it couldn’t have been sweeter for Spurs and Chelsea fans, who have all but confirmed their places in the top four. However, for Arsenal, they were again poor at the back, and Tim Sherwood had his controversial say.

The former Tottenham player and manager was doing live punditry for both the Huddersfield vs Manchester United and Arsenal vs Brighton clashes yesterday, and after the game at The Emirates, he spectacularly claimed that Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk would improve the Gunners. His claims of spending £50 million on the duo were slightly more obscure, but some of the fans agreed with him.

In truth, the former England international does have a point when it comes to Dunk and Duffy as at this very moment in time the pairing would probably edge it over the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny, but the Brighton pairing are certainly not top four material. Regardless of Sherwood’s claims, Arsenal fans need to make summer signings and bolstering the defence must be a priority, although signing Dunk and Duffy won’t be on Emery’s list.

The Gunners cannot believe it, but they agree with Sherwood on this one even if they’re not calling for the Seagulls’ pairing to be snapped up in summer.
