Arsenal fans on Twitter have no faith in pulling off De Ligt coup

Being an Arsenal fan is strange at the moment. Unai Emery is making the club look like a real contender for trophies and success, yet their current spending abilities are far below what they’ve been in previous years. The Gunners know that signing players like Ajax’s Matthijs De Ligt is beyond them, yet they’re still desperate to try.

Considering the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City, PSG and Bayern Munich are all looking at De Ligt as the central defender to carry them through the next ten years of football at the top level, it’s hard to imagine a way in which the Gunners can pull off this signing, unless of course, they have some sort of miracle up their sleeves when the January window opens.

However, it’s hardly a move that makes little sense. The Gunners need a young defender who can grow with the club to help them reach the next level and also eradicate the defensive frailties that they’re suffering with at the moment and the Dutchman would be perfect. Unfortunately, though, it seems to be a small matter of the price tag that is keeping Arsenal from pulling this one off, and the fans know it.

You can read the Gunners’ thoughts on De Ligt here:

The Gunners have full faith in De Ligt becoming one of the best in the world, but they don’t have that same faith in their club pulling off his signing.
