On Wednesday evening Arsenal faced Chelsea in the International Champions Cup in Dublin and the Gunners came out on top, winning 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. In the game, though, Hector Bellerin was shocking and his display has convinced the fans that Stephan Lichtsteiner should be the man to start.
Last season saw Hector Bellerin as one of the prime suspects in the Arsenal defence whenever they shipped goals, which happened on a lot of occasions. The supporters would have been happy to see Bellerin leave the club this summer but as it’s happened, the club have signed Stephan Lichtstiner from Juventus on a free transfer and it looks like the experienced Swiss defender will be taking on the role as mentor and number two to Bellerin.
After his shocking performance against Chelsea, though, the fans are far from convinced that Bellerin deserves to be the starting right-back at The Emirates, with plenty of fans calling for their new hardy right-sided defender to step in when they host Manchester City in their opening Premier league fixture come next Sunday. For now, it will be a matter of finalising Unai Emery’s preparions ahead of their final Lazio before the Premier league returns.

A lot better second half we looked solid ,it’s going to take time lichtsteiner has to start instead of Bellerin

This is exactly why lichtsteiner has to start ahead of bellerin, getting done time after time against a teenager pic.twitter.com/vLVE5HWole

I don’t wanna hear anybody defend Bellerin. There’s no pre season excuse because he gets torn to shreds by any winger

Just watched the highlights of yesterday’s game
Bellerin got absolutely humiliated by that young lad
Bellerin also can’t cross
Bellerin spends more time modelling than improving his crossing
I don’t like Bellerin

Hi people. I’d like to see Lichtsteiner and Torreira start in our next game and also keep Guendouzi in the side

As you can see, the fans are all desperate to Lichtsteiner start this season as Bellerin’s inefficiencies continue to let the team down.
