Arsenal fans on Twitter over the moon with Rob Holding

Unai Emery has been dealt yet another injury blow as summer signing Sokratis Papastathopoulous is out after suffering an injury in the 2-0 win against Everton last week. It’s expected that the Greek defender won’t be out for long but in the meantime, it’s young Rob Holding who has stepped in and stepped up in the club’s starting eleven.

Arsenal have kept consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since early April this year and it’s no coincidence that Rob Holding’s first two league games this season have seen the club keep their opponents out. The 23-year-old defender is a class act and it’s only a matter of time before he’s one of Arsenal’s number one choices at the back ahead of either Sokratis or Shkodran Mustafi.
The defensive situation at The Emirates is a difficult one. Club captain and first-choice centre-back Laurent Koscielny is out injured and will be until at least November and with Sokratis now out for a few weeks it looks like Mustafi and Holding are going to be the two that Emery has to rely on. For most fans, it’s not Holding they’re worried about and they’ll be keen to see either Koscielny or Sokratis come back to partner Holding as soon as possible.

The Gunners love seeing Holding at the heart of their defence and will be eager to see him get more game time under Emery in the coming months.
