Arsenal enjoyed a 2-1 win over Newcastle at St James Park on Saturday and it was a game that saw Granit Xhaka score one of his trademark long-range efforts. The Swiss international has scored a few great goals for Arsenal, and the club tweeted a video of his first one against Hull City from two years ago today.
He really can hit them

Whilst it’s easy to slate the midfielder for his perceived inability to defend and lack of work rate, the fans are, for once, celebrating Xhaka’s talents. There’s no doubting he’s one of the best long-range shooters in the Premier League and he’s proven that on a number of occasions. Back in 2016 it was Hull City on the end of it but over the weekend it was Newcastle who felt the full force of the Swiss’ left foot.
Xhaka could do with adding more goals to his game in general, and whilst the fans aren’t expecting him to step up to the plate with a 30-yard screamer every week, they’d be keen to see him being more clinical in the box and adding goals from midfield. Unai Emery will be keen to get more from Xhaka at both ends of the pitch but for now he can keep the fans happy with some of his textbook long-range goals.

This is one of the few articles where you’ll see Xhaka being praised by Arsenal fans, and the club will be hoping it can become a more common occurrence as this season continues.
