Arsenal fans on Twitter ready to cut Welbeck loose

A lot of Arsenal fans have been weighing up their squad over the last few days as the noise surrounding their transfer business has been quiet. The club has signed five players this summer, despite the fact they would have a reduced budget this summer. To increase funds, the club could now be forced to sell the likes of Danny Welbeck and David Ospina, according to The Telegraph.

It would be no surprise to see David Ospina sold this window. The Colombian goalkeeper will now likely be the club’s 3rd choice ‘keeper after the signing of Bernd Leno and having been the club’s number two behind Petr Cech last season. The more interesting one is that of Danny Welbeck. The England man has been at The Emirates since 2014 and he’s failed to make a real impact on the club, scoring just five goals in 28 Premier League games last season.

If Welbeck did leave the club it’s unlikely that The Gunners would be able to command a very big fee for him. At the age of 27, Welbeck has very rarely shown that he can successfully lead the line as a lone striker and there are certainly more effective options on the wing than the England man. He was a surprise inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad and only managed 11 minutes in the 1-0 group stage defeat to Belgium and now he could be on the move to as Arsenal could cash in to free up some funds.

Just from the tweets above it’s clear that the fans are ready to cash in on Welbeck this summer.
