Arsenal fans on Twitter refuse to believe they can be champions with current backline

This summer has been very productive for The Gunners. Unai Emery has come in and even with the small budget he’s been given he’s done his utmost to improve the club’s leaky defensive issues. Bringing in Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis and Lucas Torreira, four players that will greatly improve the club at the back.

The club has been loosely linked to Ousmane Dembele this summer and whilst some fans believe they may have enough in the tank to win the Premier League if they were to sign the flashy Frenchman, however, the more realistic fans realise that whilst Emery has done a great job in improving his defence so far, he hasn’t got enough financial backing to completely eradicate the problems that Arsenal had last season.

If the Spanish gaffer can get his club back into the Champions League this season then the spending money he’ll be given will be larger than the sum he received this time around. The main issues with the club are at centre-back and with only Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis available as their fit senior central-defenders, the season will be one in which Emery’s tutelage will have to go a long way if they’re to be anything near a side challenging for the title.

Here are the comments from the Arsenal fans on the club’s title hopes:

Just from these tweets, you can see that the fans are realistic over their title chances, despite the fact they’ve recruited well considering their current budget.
