Arsenal fans on Twitter think Bergkamp is the Premier league’s greatest foreigner

Arsenal fan TV posted a quote from Alan Shearer on Twitter today where the legendary Newcastle striker branded Sergio Aguero as the Premier League’s greatest foreigner. Plenty of Arsenal fans had a different opinion with Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry the two names that kept cropping up.

Whilst you might expect the fans to be saying Henry more than Bergkamp, that hasn’t been the case and the Non-Flying Dutchman is the one who the fans have been saying is the best player from outside of the UK to have played in the Premier League. It’s fair to see Bergkamp is up there as one of the greats to have played for Arsenal and the bias that they have towards their man is heavily backed up by his achievements.

Bergkamp spent 11 years at Arsenal after signing for The Gunners in 1995 from Inter Milan and retiring from football in 2005 and he certainly left his mark in North London. In his 315 Premier League games for the club, the Dutchman bagged himself 87 goals and 59 assists, winning four FA Cups, three league titles and six Community Shields. He was also named the Premier League player of the year for the 1997/98 season and he will always be remembered as one of the greatest to play in England from abroad.

You can read The Gunners’ claims that Bergkamp is the league’s best foreigner here:

Bergkamp will always be remembered as a Premier League and an Arsenal great and the fans won’t have it that Aguero is better than their legendary Dutchman.
