Alexandre Lacazette’s game isn’t all about goals. The Frenchman is a sublime forward who has an amazing ability to hold the ball up, get those around him involved and link up play just as well as he scores. However, yesterday, with the score at 2-1 and 15 minutes to play, Unai Emery opted to hook Laca in favour of Alex Iwobi.
It’s a standing ovation for Laca

Given the way that the Gunners feel about both Iwobi and Lacazette, you can probably picture that this changer didn’t go down well at all with them. Lacazette looked fuming when he saw his number on the 4th official’s board, and who can blame him as he watched on as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cashed in with two goals as he drew a blank against the Clarets.
At the end of the day, all that matters in football is the three points, but even so, the feeling amongst the supporters was that Lacazette should have seen out the 90 minutes. Emery will have the bigger in picture in mind, though, and considering Arsenal will be travelling to both Brighton and Liverpool in the next week, the opportunity to give Lacazette a rest is one that he was eager to take, even if the fans were fuming.
You can read the Gunners’ verdict on the Lacazette sub here:
Should have taken off Aubameyang since Laca needs to boost his confidence and may have gotten a late goal

Wrong substitution again

He wasn’t happy at all.. He needs a goal.. I don’t like the substitution either

Laca provides so much more defensively…makes no sense

You did not add that he was angry at being subbed off!
Who takes off energetic Lacazette and leave tired Ozil?? Be careful Unai

But I think he was not supposed to be substituted. It's so frustrating for a player of his calibre and character.

Lacazette has every right to complain for being either benched or substituted in every game we play.He is better than that.

I was entirely disappointed… In this substitution…. Not happy en all da gonners

The fans were as frustrated as Lacazette when the Frenchman was subbed and they’ll be hoping that the ex-Lyon hitman can play the full 90 against both Brighton and Liverpool in the week.
