Arsenal fans can be a very fickle bunch. When it comes to popular players amongst the fans base then the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and co can do no wrong, even when they’re sent off for lashing out. However, the lesser liked players come in for all the criticism in the world from the fans, and Alex Iwobi is one of them.
Second half is GO
Would you keep our side the same or make subs? And if so, who should be introduced first?
BATE 1-0 Arsenal (46) #UEL
— Arsenal FC (@Arsenal) 14 February 2019
When the Gunners went into half-time at 1-0 down away to BATE Borisov yesterday the fans had to find a scapegoat. They couldn’t get on Unai Emery’s back again as they’d been doing that all the way up until kick off for his decision to leave Mesut Ozil out of the squad. However, they found a suitable scapegoat in the form of Alex Iwobi, who wasn’t the only one to have a turgid 45 minutes.
The young Nigerian is a player who at any club would be revered, he may not be the most talented player in the world, but he came through the club’s youth academy and he understands what it means to be a Gunner. That meant absolutely nothing last night though, as he was lambasted for his poor performance and had fans calling for him to be substituted, sold and left in Belarus.

Leave Iwobi in Belarus

When #iwobi proves evey match that he's useless but keeps playing, the problem lies with the manager…..some players are just fulfilling an obligation, no sense of urgency or desire to win or rather the manager

How about selling Iwobi. Not sure what he is doing on pitch!

Iwobi is a garbage!

The Gunners made their feelings on Iwobi pretty clear and will hope he can up his game significantly, although given the state of the club’s fan base the Nigerian will never get the supporters off his back.
