Arsenal fans have been raving over William Saliba after the youngster helped Saint Etienne beat AS Monaco and keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win yesterday.
Is William Saliba going to walk straight into Arsenal's first-team?
The on-loan defender was in superb form for the French side, winning one tackle and two interceptions while making four clearances and boasting a team high 86.8% pass accuracy, per Whoscored.
After their fifth Ligue 1 game without defeat, the French side rose up to eighth place in the table, just one point off third-place and qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have been struggling in defence this campaign, conceding 15 goals in just 11 top-flight games (via Premier League).
Unai Emery’s side has kept just two clean sheets in the Premier League this season, meanwhile, Saliba’s side have kept double the amount in their last five league games.
Fans were lauding the 18-year-old, who has come in to have an immediate impact following his hamstring injury, as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from Gooners:
