Arsenal fans have been praising the performance of ‘keeper Emiliano Martinez after the Argentine kept a clean sheet against Europa League rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 27-year-old was starting his first game of the season as Arsenal’s number two following the retirement of Petr Cech at the end of last season.
He was in inspired form as he made seven saves in the game last night, the most of any ‘keeper who kept a clean sheet in the first round of matches in the competition (via Twitter).
The ‘keeper tweeted out following the comfortable victory for Unai Emery’s side: “3 points, fans, clean sheet, great start in the Europa League campaign.”
Arsenal fans were more than complimentary of the long-serving player as they took to Twitter to praise him for his performance against the German side.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Emirates Stadium faithful:
You were my man of the march @emimartinezz1 what a brilliant first performance as our no.2 from you that was.
Looking like world class goalkeeper in the making. Never leave
