Arsenal fans take to Twitter to bask in Deeney dismissal

In football, the strangest of rivalries can surface, and one of those is the constant bantering between Arsenal fans and Troy Deeney. The Watford skipper came out after a 2-1 win over the Gunners in October 2017 and claimed the Gunners ‘lack cojones’ and those comments were thrown back at him as he was sent off early on last night.

Troy Deeney has got a lot of character about him and he inevitably riles up opposition fans when he plays. However, with Arsenal fans, it’s gone one step further and last night at Vicarage Road they couldn’t have been happier to see the veteran Englishman sent off after just 11 minutes. There can be no complaints about the red card either as Deeney left his mark on Lucas Torreira, elbowing the Uruguayan in the face.
It will be a moment that Arsenal fans will be waking up this morning smiling about, as they celebrate the 1-0 win that keeps them in the race for a top-four spot. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang showed plenty of cojones when he pressed Ben Foster into a mistake for the game’s only goal, and it seems Deeney got carried away just minutes later as he single-handedly won the Gunners the game, leaving the travelling support delighted as they recorded their first away league clean sheet of the campaign.

The Gunners absolutely loved seeing Deeney and Watford crumble last night and will be relishing their next game against the veteran striker after his red card this time around.
