Arsenal fans have become very settled on their goalkeeping situation this season. Bernd Leno has won them all over as their first choice number one, and they’re more than happy to call upon Petr Cech when needed. However, with Cech retiring at the end of the season, the Gunners want to see Emiliano Martinez promoted to their number two shot-stopper.
“Obviously I love Arsenal. But it’s time for me to make it there or go somewhere else.”

The Argentine goalkeeper has done everything that’s been asked of him as an Arsenal player, and for goalkeepers, it’s always tough being the 3rd choice as you know that even with injuries to those ahead of you, the chance of getting game time is very slim. So far, though, the 26-year-old has looked very comfortable out on-loan at Reading, and the taste of regular football will be sweet for the ‘keeper.
It also helps that he’s been very, very good this season whilst on-loan at the Madejski Stadium. There’s no surprise that the goalkeeper is enjoying his time in the Championship given his current form, and the Gunners would all love to see him step up and fill Petr Cech’s shoes next season. Cech retiring opens up a position for a new shot-stopper, but to save cash, Unai Emery could easily promote Martinez and then bring in another youth goalie as their 3rd choice.
You can read the Gunners’ calls for a chance for Martinez here:
He'll be second to Leno from next season. Cech is retiring and Ospina looks set to be signed by Napoli permanently.

Desearves to be second choice atleast, he's been phenomenal for reading so far

I make him right. He seems to have been around for years, and let's be honest, when the club brought in Leno that really showed he will be no more than a No2. Wish him well whatever happens

Deserves a chance since cech is out

I hope he will take over as number 2 next season. We need our money to defenders

The man needs a shot

Cech will be leaving this summer. I would promote Martinez to Number 2 and give him all cup games next season and the odd league game.

The Gunners all seem more than happy to give Martinez a shot and will hope he can show the same form for them next season that he’s shown for Reading.
