As the summer draws nearer and we get closer and closer to the opening of the transfer window, fans are starting to get an idea of who they want to bring in. For Arsenal fans, a new central midfielder will be a priority and The Daily Mail claim that they could be set to go in for Manchester United’s Ander Herrera on a free transfer as his contract expires.
Would you take him on a free this summer? pic.twitter.com/aDJ1E3w8UQ

The Manchester United midfielder has proven himself as a real tenacious battler at Old Trafford and with the ongoing contract issues that the club are suffering it would be no surprise to see them losing out on a number of their stars to rival clubs. Already there are rumours linking Herrera to Arsenal, and it seems that the Red Devils could be set to lose out on a few players as they struggle with contract talks.
Herrera would be both a huge loss at Old Trafford and a superb addition at The Emirates. His ability to produce magical moments at one end of the pitch whilst also being able to perform the workhorse terrier role at the back makes him a rare sort. Unai Emery will know that too and will have seen plenty of the 29-year-old from his days at Sevilla when Herrera was turning out for Athletic Bilbao.
You can read the Gunners’ calls for Herrera here:
Would be great for rotation, considering we only have Xhaka and Torreira. We need back up in case of injury, fatigue or suspension and unfortunately Elneny is not good enough, Matteo needs more experience. So, Yes we should take him for free!

Loads of Arsenal fans want to bring in Herrera, and given it would be on a free transfer it’s hard to see the negatives in this one.
